The purpose of the "Is it good for the kids?" movement is to make the Greater Des Moines area the best place in America for everyone, because we do the right things as a community to make all our kids successful.

This grassroots effort has been designed to stimulate community action by encouraging everyone — parents, individuals, corporations, neighborhoods and organizations — to test their decisions and actions by asking, "Is it good for the kids?"

The movement will not just create action around the question, but will also measure the community's progress on children's issues by using seven benchmarks. These benchmarks are helping the community determine how it focuses efforts to make sure all kids are healthy, safe, happy and successful, and, making them the foundation for a successful community.
